Clocking in at around $1.80, the Pilot Precise V5 is one of the best budget pens I’ve ever reviewed. Some might find the extra fine .5mm rolling ball tip to be too small a line for every day writing, and I understand this may take some adjustment. But .2mm less line width makes fine detail, even in a small Moleskine, highly achievable. I’ve spent a lot of time with the Precise V7, and believe me when I tell you that it is a nearly perfect writing pen for everyday use, but the smaller imprint left by the V5 will allow for a noticeable amount of additional words per line when taking notes, still within a range that delivers ease of readability.
